Some Database entries that
I think are probably wrong.
I do not own these tapes and can only go by info on the covers. We all know how unreliable cover-text can be, so I’ll try to give detailed reasons for why I think corrections are necessary. I would like to ask the submitters for confirmation or the admins for opinions on the following issues:
1.
6 blondjes op de Tiroler toer (Arpa Video) DONEI think this entry is linked to the wrong film. It should be 'Sechs Schwedinnen auf der Alm' and not 'Sechs Schwedinnen von der Tankstelle'.
a) Both titles are from the same series, so they can easily be confused. The Cover uses the German Poster for '... auf der Alm', and also has this title mentioned on the right. The Poster uses an image of Brigitte Lahaie, even though she does not actually appear in the film. (Since she does in '...von der Tankstelle' this might have influenced the contributor.)
b) This edition is listed in the
OFDb as '... auf der Alm', as is a later
DVD release, which uses the same title and cover image.
c) I cannot really understand dutch, but the plot mentions 'testament' as well as several other words similar to German expressions, which fit the plot description on
tv-kult.com; mainly that 6 Swedish girls travel to Switzerland to accept their inheritance of their deceased father.
The correct IMDb link is:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0086267(I have recently added several films of the same type as 'Comédie' and 'Erotique', usually there exists both a softcore and a hardcore version of these films, according to OFDb, this particual edition is the hardcore version, so 'Porn' might also be an appropriate genre.)
2.
Sous l'empire de la haine (Open Video) DONEI think this entry is linked to the wrong film. I think it should be 'Kareteci kiz' (
IMDb) instead of 'Seni sevmek kaderim'(
IMDb).
a) I recently added
Golden Karate Girl (Eagle 6) to the database and only afterwards, when checking the director's link, noticed the french tape. I believe both tapes are from the same film. They have very similar credits (notably all 3 people mentioned on the cover were involved in both productions), so they are easily confused. Both IMDb and OFDb mention the existence of a French master/VHS for 'Karate Girl', sadly without further information. If a French tape is known that well, it seems likely one of your users would already have submitted it to the database.
b) According to
Google 'Seni sevmek kaderim' translates to 'Destined to Love you', which seems odd, considering the plot description on the cover. 'Karateci kiz', which is 'Karate Girl' seems much more fitting for the cover.
c) The plot on the French cover matches with the Reviews on
IMDb of 'Karate Girl', mainly that 5 convicts kill a gardener, and his daughter learns Martial Arts to take vengeance.
Sinematurk.com has a completely different plot for 'Seni sevmek kaderim' about a lawyer getting married.
3.
MTV Closet Classics (Vestron Video) DONEI think this release is from Great Britain, not from Germany.
a) The tape has UK rating logos, the 'Universal' U is a BBFC rating, the German FSK equivalents would be 'FSK 0' (previously 'ohne Altersbeschränkung'). Also the text is in English, which is rare on German releases.
b) A search on
amazon.de only lists the UK tape (and the Japanese Laserdisc).
c) I am aware that is is/was a common practise for some German/International labels to distribute non-German releases of Music/Concert Videos in Germany (for example 'VPS' distributed some UK pre-cert Concert cartons from 'VCL'), sometimes even in the same packaging, however in most cases at least a sticker for the German title and/or the German rating are added. This compilation
might have been released in Germany like this, but since the cover was clearly made for the UK, I would list it as a British tape.
4.
Flight 90 : Disaster on the Potomac (Films International) DONEI think this release is from Belgium, not the Netherlands.
a) It says 'Distributie bij N.V. Torcq Belgie' on the back cover.
b) I recently added 3 releases from the same label to the Database. Since the covers from
Sole Survivor and
Mister Deathman explicitly mention 'Belgian Law' as well as Anterwerpen, I listed the editions as Belgian.
c) I do not know if these tapes were actually (also) released in the Netherlands, but it seems very likely they were released in Belgium and think they should all be listed under one label.
